How was EDS started?

EDS was formed through suggestions from employees at Hutchinson Technology in June of 1993. HTI then contacted other Sioux Falls, SD area businesses to judge interest in forming an organization that solicits businesses in the Sioux Empire area to provide discounts to their employees.

The following founding businesses showed interest in forming such an organization: HTI, Electronic Systems, Inc., CCL Label, Stewart's, StarMark, Balance Systems and Brown & Saenger. An EDS Committee was established and plans were put in place for implementation later that year.

In November of 1993, EDS was officially kicked off with a handful of businesses offering discounts. Over the years, we've grown to more than 175 businesses providing our employees various discounts in automotive, clothing/footwear, health & beauty, home improvement, hotels/motels, jewelers, miscellaneous, mortgages/realtors/taxes, photography & galleries, recreation/entertainment, restaurants and food, and vision care.
